How to use it

  1. Choose whether to add a feeling, intensity, need, privacy marker, or check-back time.
  2. Use words, pictures, weather, color, or unsure; you may also pass.
  3. Place only information you are comfortable having household members see.
  4. Move or remove your marker when you want.

Reflection prompts

  • Which kinds of information feel okay to share on a common board?
  • How should others respond to a privacy or later marker?
  • Where can someone ask for support more privately?

Facilitator guidance

Participation must be voluntary, and adults should model consent and non-interrogation. Place the board where it does not expose sensitive information to visitors, siblings, caregivers, cameras, or others who should not see it.

Adaptations & accessibility

  • Use personal mini-boards or private envelopes instead of a shared display.
  • Provide picture symbols, movable magnets, AAC-compatible choices, and an unsure marker.
  • Offer a neutral energy or weather check-in that does not require naming feelings.
