Grounding Exercise Cards
Try optional ways of orienting to the present environment.
Clinical review requiredFull-resolution WebP artwork with print-safe margins. Review the guidance below before use.
How to use it
- Choose one card that seems comfortable enough to try.
- Notice the environment, an object, support beneath you, or a gentle movement for a short time.
- Stop, switch cards, or seek support if the exercise increases discomfort.

Reflection prompts
- What did you notice during the exercise?
- Would you keep, change, or skip this option next time?
- What would help you feel oriented now?

Facilitator guidance
Offer choices rather than commands and begin with environment-first options. Sensory, movement, and body-focused practices can be uncomfortable or inaccessible for some people.
Adaptations & accessibility
- Use eyes-open environmental cards only.
- Remove touch, movement, sound, or body cards based on preference and access needs.
- Allow the person to create a familiar-object grounding card.
Review considerations
Standard licensed-clinician review required before use; review trauma sensitivity for the intended setting.
This is a layout-complete draft. Complete the stated clinical, accessibility, and local-policy review before client use or publication.
