How to use it

  1. Choose images, colors, textures, words, or blank spaces that represent parts of you.
  2. Include roles, cultures, values, interests, communities, relationships, contradictions, or future possibilities only if you want.
  3. Overlap, hide, remove, or leave pieces unfinished to show complexity and privacy.
  4. Decide what, if anything, you want to share.

Reflection prompts

  • Which parts feel central, contextual, changing, or private?
  • Where do identities overlap or create tension?
  • What do you want others to respect without needing an explanation?

Facilitator guidance

Use cultural humility and let the client define every image. Do not infer identity, invite disclosure of unsafe information, or expect a coherent or complete narrative.

Adaptations & accessibility

  • Use a private digital collage with adjustable visibility.
  • Create an abstract collage without people or identity labels.
  • Use removable pieces so the collage can change over time.

Review considerations
